Try making lists with fingers when we have science questions that answer in a list.

Try to break down history sentences - WK 4 worked great - 2 Enlish kings, 2 events, 2 dates. Write out the words but add symbols or pictures above them or next to them. You can do simple ones like symbols next to words in History (king - crown on top), 100 year war, the number 100, etc. I let them earase the words, so everyone wants to participate, come up and chose which one to delete.įor little kids, pictures and visuals help. My kids also really love when we play earase a word off the board and recite with words missing. March aroud a table if you have one in your room while reciting, throw a ball to the next person and say the next word (works for Latin conjugations or English grammar). In math adding 0 does not change the numbers identity!" I hope this helps! Say "Your identity, who you are, did not change by adding a hat or scarf. Identity Law: Bring scarves or hats, let the kids wear one, as you recite change scarves/hats. it is not nice to not distribute to everyone! When you distribute in math you want to make sure you do not leave anyone out!" (Then give that kid a piece). Distributive Law: Bring candy, while reciting distribute candy to everyone except 1 person (I alway pick the most vocal) and when they say why they did not get any, say "Oopps. Assossiative Law: Kids start in groups and Say half of the Law, when you say equals have them change up their group (different people grouped together) Now they are assossiating with someone new like the numbers do. Math, Laws: Commutative Law: Say half of the Law, when you say equals commute to a different location in the room since the numbers change order/location. Geography, waxi sticks work well for Mountain Ranges, M&M's for cities (they have to be in the correct spot before they can eat them!). Science, there are a lot of songs posted on the file share I like to do motions that act out or portray the science idea when possible. One CC user posted hand motions for all History sentences on file share. History, I like to sing the CC song and add in motions. The older kids like to race (time each one with a stopwatch) they have to say them and put the cards in order.

Also with timeline, if you have the cards you can have the kids take turns pointing to the cards as you say them.

With Timeline: Big Voice/Big Step, Little Voice/Little Step is fun. I usually use Actions with Latin and Funny Voices with English, but it is good to mix and match each week. Next person picks a popsicle stick and everyone recite. Let one student pick a popsicle stick and then everyone recite (either in that voice or while doing that action). Second set have actions (march, hop, sit-ups, push ups, jumping jacks, etc.). One set have funny voices (cat, frog, Mommy, robot, etc.). Have two sets of popsicle sticks in your bag at all times.
